Hey there, neighbors.
Since our first holiday season in 2021, we’ve been curious about ways in which we can help you give the gift of plants around the holidays. As living things that need warmth and light and water to survive, it can be a bit tricky to put a plant in a box. We’ve also heard from many of you over the years, and we know it can be difficult to narrow down exactly what to give the plant parent who “has everything.”
If you’re not gifting a plant, what else is there? Maybe a bottle of our favorite organic all-purpose fertilizer, a gorgeous ceramic pot, compostable gnat traps, or our favorite houseplant glow-up soil mix (for when something in their collection inevitably needs fresh soil and new digs). These are all perfectly lovely gifts that you can certainly find in the Shop, and I’m sure would be appreciated by the plant lover in your life.
This year, we wanted to go one step further, and in addition to offering essential and evergreen tools and supplies, we thought: what about offering the gift of learning and empowerment, too?
In this spirit, I’m excited to share that today we’re launching a brand new “Gift of Service” offering. This special package includes a personalized home visit for each recipient, whereby our plant curation and care team will share an hour of our time and expertise with each plant parent, in their own space.
In many ways, this “choose your own adventure” offering is perfect for the plant parent that’s hard to buy for, because we can tailor each visit to the needs of the recipient.
Maybe they need help pruning an overgrown specimen, or their Monstera is overdue for a moss pole? Maybe life has just been too busy lately and they need help cleaning and polishing leaves? (Before you chuckle, believe it or not, dusty leaves inhibit photosynthesis and cleaning the leaves of indoor plants is an important chore to do a few times each year - especially in winter when our days are shorter and light is limited - every photon counts!)
Speaking of light, maybe they want to re-arrange their plant collection to make optimal use of their space, and they need a hand getting things in order?
We can inspect the soil quality in each pot and help prioritize who will need to be repotted and when.
We can also share resources, tips, and tricks for plant care in general, advising on soil choice, propagation, pest control, and so much more.
We also aren’t limited to just indoor plants. We can also help outdoors, too. Perhaps we can help with selecting plants for a tricky spot, or deciding where the raised beds should go and what material to build them from? Maybe it’s thinking about where the compost should be and how we can fit some new fruit trees in a small space?
Ultimately, we follow the needs of each plant parent, making each visit unique and personalized in order to maximize the value of our time together and set everyone up for greater success and joy when it comes to growing plants.
It’s also important to note that the Gift of Service covers our team’s time and travel only, and if any additional products or services are requested as part of our visit, the recipient will be responsible for covering the additional costs, unless you’d prefer to cover them as part of your gift - it’s up to you!
When you purchase a Gift of Service it comes with a beautiful certificate and envelope (available to order online and pick up in the Shop, or purchase directly in person). It’s festive, fun, and includes all the information recipients will need to know when it comes to scheduling. We’re making only 15 sessions available to start.
Certificates will expire on July 1, 2025. Services must be on our schedules by this date, although the service date may be later.
At this time, we’re making the new house-call service available to gift only, so if you’d like to book a visit for yourself and your own collection, stay tuned. We’ll be dropping those details in mid January-ish.
Thanks, folks. We appreciate you so much, and we look forward to continuing to collaborate with and support you in your growing adventures.

P.S. Don’t forget, we also offer standard gift cards, both online and in the Shop, and they can be used on anything from workshops and classes to plants, gifts, and other goodies.
